Why We Didn't Blog in May: We Had a Baby!

By Andrea Akinpelu • July 1, 2026

Back to Blog

Okay, so — funny story. If you noticed things went a little quiet around here in May, it wasn't because we ran out of things to say (that's never happened, and honestly, probably never will). It's because we were a little busy welcoming a brand new human into the world.

So yeah. We had a baby! 👶

Family First Isn't Just Something We Say

We talk a lot about our core values, and "Family First" is right up at the top of that list — but values only mean something when they actually cost you something. It's easy to put "work-life balance" on a website. It's a different thing entirely to close the laptop, turn off the notifications, and mean it.

So that's what we did. For a couple of weeks, the inbox waited, the blog waited, the content calendar waited — and we didn't feel bad about it for a second. Because if we're going to build a business around the idea that people matter more than productivity, that has to be true for us too, not just something we tell our clients.

What That Looked Like

It looked like late nights that had nothing to do with client deadlines. It looked like learning a whole new rhythm as a family. It looked like letting a to-do list sit untouched — genuinely, one of the harder things for us to do — because some things are simply more important, and a new baby is at the very top of that list.

We're Back, and We Mean Business

Now that we've had our time to soak up those first precious weeks, we're back — full force, fully caffeinated, and genuinely excited to get back to doing what we love: helping small businesses across the region look and sound like the real, credible, memorable brands they are.

Thank you for your patience while we stepped away. It meant more than you know to have the room to prioritize family without worrying about what was happening on the business side. That's the kind of support we hope to extend to every client we work with, too.

So — here's to being back, and here's to a very tiny new addition to the IOCS family (unofficially, of course; they're not old enough to hold a paintbrush yet, but give it time).
